Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head of Communication and Public Relations (PR).
This role is responsible for shaping and delivering the communication strategies, building relationships with media, stakeholders, and the public, and ensuring that the company mission and values are effectively communicated to a local and global audience.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in strategic communication and PR, particularly within the non-profit or humanitarian sector.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy Development: Design and implement a comprehensive communication and PR strategy that supports the organization’s mission, goals, and objectives.
Media Relations: Establish strong relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers to ensure positive and widespread coverage of the organization’s activities and achievements.
Public Relations Campaigns: Lead the development of PR campaigns to raise awareness of the NGO’s work, advocate for key issues, and increase donor engagement.
Brand Management: Oversee the organization's brand identity and ensure consistency across all communication channels, including social media, newsletters, press releases, and websites.
Crisis Management: Develop and manage communication strategies for handling sensitive issues or crises, acting as the primary spokesperson when needed.
Internal Communications: Foster open and effective internal communication within the organization, ensuring alignment with external messaging.
Content Creation: Oversee the creation of compelling content, including articles, reports, press releases, videos, and social media posts that tell the story of our work.
Digital Media: Lead the NGO’s digital communication efforts, ensuring strong engagement across social media platforms and the web.
Monitoring and Reporting: Track the effectiveness of communication strategies, PR campaigns, and media outreach; provide regular reports to senior management.
Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior communications or PR role, preferably in the NGO or non-profit sector.
Strong media contacts and experience handling media relations and public speaking.
Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
Proven ability to manage social media platforms and digital communication strategies.
Experience leading and managing a team of communication professionals.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
